The farm is inspected and certified by CFIA and the BC Egg Marketing Board and holds a BC Egg Marketing Board Small Producers Permit. The feed used is sourced and grown locally in Creston.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The land owners currently reside on the property. They are looking for someone to hire to work with them. This will be based on an hourly agreement, which could possibly include housing. Duties may graduate into more responsibility and management over time.

The land owners are nearing partial retirement and hoping to find someone interested in poultry and egg farming. They wish to provide a farmer interested in poultry and flock management the opportunity to learn.

The situation is suitable for someone interested in learning about small-scale poultry and egg processing. The hours of work involve early mornings and average 3-4 hours per day, with the majority of the work completed by lunch time. There may be other duties at times which may or may not include egg deliveries, barn cleaning, systems maintenance and record keeping.

Redfish Elementary School is located 10 minutes away and the school bus stops a very short walk away. This opportunity would be ideal for a young family. As long-time residents of the area who have also raised their family there, the land owners are a great resource for farmers looking to connect with the local Kootenay farming and wider community.

There is the possibility of housing on site. The land owners would like to assess fit and interests first, hoping to make a long-term arrangement with the right individuals.
