SEA TO SEED : A Sailboat Tour Of Farming, Music And Regenerative Culture from Over Grow The System on Vimeo.

Over Grow The System is excited to be on the Sea To Seed Tour!

A group of musicians, farmers, filmmakers, writers and photographers have set off on the Sea to Seed Tour, a month long sailing trip up through the Islands of British Columbia. We are on an experimental mission to collect and share the stories of the farming communities sown along the coast. While exploring the importance of localizing food systems, homesteading, organic farming, community building and permaculture we will also be engaging the role that art and culture can play in supporting these ways, evolving educational forums and creating positive change.

Along with telling these stories through our various art forms, we will be hosting music concerts as a means of creating connections within and between the communities on the islands we visit and an expansive network of potential allies. So far, these concerts will feature Lynx from Oakland, CA, The Tailor from Vancouver, along with storytelling and other local artists from each individual island

Food, language and music carry the beating heart of culture, they hold the possibility of remembering, of realigning ourselves with the simple values of caring for ourselves, each other and the great wild world. We hope to inspire a collective story telling rooted in the fertile soil of generative celebration and cultivating a real way of living with integrity.

By creating a sailboat tour fed primarily thru locally sourced food, the Sea to Seed Tour hopes to embody the very ideals we are promoting, creating models for the post-petroleum reality we are swiftly heading towards. The aim of this adventure is to inspire our local and global communities through the exploration of the art and culture of sustainable farming structures around the Islands; to explore the cohesion and synergy to be found in such structures and how they can inspire a greater shift in our current society.

Topics we will be addressing through our films and text with Sea To Seed will include:

-Shifting educational paradigms to engage young people in becoming empowered citizens

-Exploring the spectrum between farming, art and activism and how the different roles can support and challenge each other

-Raising Children on farms and with a connection to land, nature and food.

-Becoming conscious of the stories we are being fed and how to collectively transform them into the stories we want to be living

-Making the shift to community living, what works, what doesn’t.

-Importance of building strong local food systems.

-What will a post petroleum world look like, and how can we move toward a a system that can thrive in such a reality?

-How to take the knowledge and inspiration into the city’s, and to communities and people on the margins of power.

-Young people taking up the call to farming.

-Sharing knowledge of local, traditional indigenous ways

-How are GMO’s effecting small island based farmers?

“ Like a Sexy Tom Waits riding a Camel through Africa and stopping in Romania for a drink” -somebody important

The Tailor will grab you by your hips, spin you across the floor, whisper in your ear and send you to sleep with a lullaby.  He  dreams a future rhythm and he walks a future blues, made up of a tender slices of music from all over this crazy world.  He travels with a Broken Beatbox and a Strange Banjo and he is not afraid to use it.

His legendary Live performances have been delighting, confounding and seducing audiences across the West Coast for more years than he would care to admit.  Highlights include residency at Shambhala Living Room Stage for the last ten years, an opening slot for a Beats Antique tour, and playing the Fusion festival in Berlin. This year will be his busiest Touring schedule to date, with two albums to be released, many remixes planned with some of deepest producers of the west coast, and a new appreciation of the pop song thats gonna loosen up many pieces of clothing. if you know what i mean. The music has been featured in the short film Bury him in the Desert, the cooking show the Perennial plate, crazy swedish fishing documentary, and a number of racy love scenes.
