Salt & Harrow organic Farm debuts new logo and operations on Vancouver Island BC

Young Agrarians & SOLEfood Co-Founder Launches New Farm on Vancouver Island, BC

Salt & Harrow is a 37-acre, certified organic farm. Ten acres are devoted to vegetable production, producing over 50 varieties of vegetables, fruits, legumes and herbs. The Farm sits along French Creek and the historic E & N Railway on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in the Qualicum First Nation Territory. Nestled in the rain shadow of Mount Arrowsmith, the farm receives more sunshine than most other parts of Vancouver Island. This has led many locals to refer to the area as the “banana belt.”

Darcy Belsher and Seann Dory founded Salt & Harrow in 2015.

They believe a farm should work like an organism producing feed, amendments, and energy. Over the coming seasons they are working towards running the farm completely with draft animal power, transitioning to solar energy, and growing their own feed and forage for the animals. They will be focusing on vegetable and egg production in the first season and by season two hope to have dairy, honey, maple syrup, and grains available to their customers.

Salt & Harrow is looking for employees and interns for the 2016 season please check out the postings. Distribution Coordinator & Farm Apprenticeship

Their summer CSA is now open to folks on Vancouver Island and in the City of Vancouver. Learn more and sign-up at www.saltandharrow.com

Salt & Harrow will be open to the public in the summer of 2016. You can follow their progress on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @saltandharrow

We look forward to sharing our harvest with you in 2016.
