Are you a farmer located in B.C. wondering how to honour the Indigenous lands you steward? kinSHIFT hosts essential online trainings about cultivating stronger relationships with Indigenous peoples and places, and we’ve received funds to subsidize the cost for BC farmers.
Discount codes of 50% or 90% off are available for people who work on farms or otherwise provision food in B.C. Not sure if you qualify? Send us a message at community@youngagrarians.org
For every B.C. farmer who participates in a kinSHIFT training, funds will go to IndigenEYEZ, an Indigenous youth arts empowerment program!
Elements of Truth: Before Reconciliation
Immerse yourself in an experiential virtual learning journey to deepen your understanding of how settler Canadians can embrace their responsibility to spark change and build right relations with Indigenous peoples. Truth before reconciliation is an opportunity for all of us to learn from our past, to begin to step into our fuller potential in the present, and to re-imagine a better way forward together.
When we deepen our understanding of our true colonial history and the impacts on Indigenous peoples, and allow our hearts to be impacted by this truth, there is potential for us to embrace our responsibility to make change, to stand with Indigenous peoples, support Indigenous Peoples’ rights, create systems that are just and equal, and shift our current relations in ways that benefit the land, the water, and all life forms for generations to come.
About the Elements of Truth Workshops
Elements of Truth: Before Reconciliation is a 10-hour workshop series rooted in Indigenous values. Guided by reciprocity, inclusion, curiosity, and humility, our learning journey unfolds over four weeks, with four powerful 2.5-hour sessions. Get ready for an informative, interactive, and impactful experience!
- Earth: Uncover the impacts of colonization and gain a deeper understanding of our shared history.
- Air: Expand your perspectives by embracing diversity and acknowledging implicit bias and injustice.
- Fire: Reflect on social positioning, acknowledge power dynamics, and embrace the potential for change.
- Water: Raise consciousness about the impacts of micro-aggressions and develop transformative communication skills.
While we encourage attendance in all four workshops (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water), Elements of Truth is designed to welcome both new and returning participants to any individual session. When registering for Elements of Truth, options are available to attend the series (all four workshops) or to register for each session individually.

New! Fireside Chats with kinSHIFT
Centering Indigenous voices around the virtual fire
An invitation to listen and reflect
Gather with IndigenEYEZ facilitators, Aunties and guest speakers around the virtual fire for an evening of storytelling and shared experiences. The kinSHIFT Fireside Chats offer a unique space for settlers to practice deep listening and reflect on their own reconciliation journeys while honouring and centering Indigenous voices.
Each Fireside Chat will explore a different theme or topic, creating opportunities for open dialogue and meaningful conversations where we can deepen our understanding of one another, share aspirations, and acknowledge the challenges we face along the way. Join us as we take another step toward building stronger, more respectful relationships together.

Making Meaning of Land Acknowledgements
Together, we’ll dive into the evolving discourse around land acknowledgements. In recent years, these statements have become routine, often reduced to reading a Googled phrase or ticking a box. But what does it truly mean to acknowledge land?
In this facilitated discussion, we’ll explore the potential harm caused when actions are performative instead of purposeful. Should you do a land acknowledgement if you don’t know why you’re doing it? What does it mean to truly recognize the land, its history, and the Indigenous peoples who have cared for it since time immemorial?
This conversation invites settlers to listen deeply, expand their perspectives, and make more conscious decisions in their work toward reconciliation. Together, we’ll set the path away from token gestures and toward meaningful, respectful practices.
