Potluck!

Posted by Sara Dent on July 25, 2012

It’s been natural for us to pull people together to eat. Since we’re focused on farmers and foodies, our monthly gatherings started small and are growing. We like the idea of young folk around the province potlucking and pulling together local food, food lovers and growers.

Potlucks are free, participatory and a wonderful way to bond and build community.

Our first potluck was a house gathering in Vancouver’s Strathcona.

Our secound potluck was at Cottonwood Community Garden to meet Jane Rabinowicz from The Bauta Initiative, who was touring B.C. with FarmFolk CityFolk.

Our third potluck marked the beginning of a collaboration with the fabulous Vancouver Urban Farming Society (VUFS). VUFS is a newly formed non-profit having pulled together an incredible crew of brave urban farming pioneers throughout 2011 to network and advocate. Their potlucks had great draw last year and included a new farm each month to tour and potluck. We’re collaborating on 2012 potlucks to bring people to eat, eat, eat. Our June collaboration was at Edible Garden Project’s gorgeous Loutet Farm in North Vancouver.

Our fourth potluck is tomorrow, July 26th, 6pm, at UBC Farm and we can’t wait!   Check our our event page on Facebook for more info!

Please get in touch if you want to host a Young Agrarians potluck in your neighbourhood!
