Young Agrarians
We are excited to announce that Young Agrarians is We are excited to announce that Young Agrarians is participating in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge! Throughout the month of June, every dollar you donate will enter us into a chance to win $20,000. Every donation counts, big or small, and has the potential to make a significant impact on our programs, which offer diverse opportunities for farmers to find education, empowerment, and connection.

With there being less than 23,000 farm operators under the age of 35 in Canada, we believe that investing in the next generation of farmers is essential for the future of our food systems. Climate change, the rising costs of land and production, and the decreasing number of people entering the sector to grow the food we rely on make it more crucial than ever to support new farmers. By contributing to our cause, you are helping us build a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food system in Canada.

FROM THE FIELD: The 2023 YA Apprentices share what FROM THE FIELD: The 2023 YA Apprentices share what’s shakin’ at their farms!

Apprentice Katheryn Loewen is at @thedogsrunfarm in Manitoba: "The past few weeks have been spent preparing for the busy season to come. Colin, Katie, and I have been chipping away at projects big and small, including cleaning the egg mobiles and setting them up with nest boxes for the new batch of hens that just arrived, moving the sheep out of their winter pasture, sending animals to the butcher, making soap, prepping the garden beds, and more.

It has been such a joy to be so immersed in the changing seasons - daily I find myself noticing new birds that cross my path after a winter away, seeing new plants that poke up from the ground, and gaining new skills that will serve me in the months to come. It feels like spring has finally arrived!"

You'll be hearing from the Apprentices throughout the summer, as they settle into their Apprenticeships! You can meet the 2023 Apprenticeship Cohort at the link in bio.

Saskatchewan Apprenticeship season has kicked off Saskatchewan Apprenticeship season has kicked off at @wolfwillowwinery! Apprentices came together over campfires, river views, and beaches to build community, reflect on their values and goal-setting, and eat delicious farm food. The crew kicked up some prairie dust, did some fire-side dancing, and introduced our international apprentices to a Saskatchewan favourite, the chicken dance. Thanks to Wolf Willow Winery for the tour of their fruit crops and agro-tourism - berry and veggie picking, corn mazes, pumpkin patch, and disc golf. We are grateful to meet another inspiring crew and look forward to all farm stories to come!
