Meet Brianna & Louise of Blooms on 7 Flower Farm, a stunning flower and alpaca farm in Sherwood Park, Alberta, offering one-of-a-kind on-farm experiences in their field of flowers or with their herd of alpacas. They host immersive floral design workshops that go beyond crafting a beautiful arrangement - they also promote sustainable floristry and regenerative agriculture. You can learn more about their herd of alpacas during educational alpaca Meet and Greet sessions or just enjoy hanging out with the herd during one of their Date Nights.⁠

Join us on September 22nd for a full-day farm tour of two innovative Creston farms that have been working hard to reduce their carbon emissions and improve the energy efficiency of their farm infrastructure. This event will include a morning farm tour at Full Circle Farm, a potluck lunch, and an afternoon farm tour of Cartwheel Farm.⁠

In addition to all infrastructure innovations, both Full Circle Farm and Cartwheel Farm are dedicated to their soil’s health, using low/no till methods to build and protect the carbon in their soil. This tour will be a rich learning opportunity with lots of discussion on how we can reduce fossil fuel use on farms, sequester more carbon in our soils, and adapt our farming practices for a changing climate.⁠

LAND OPPORTUNITY: A beautiful 25-acre farm is available in Barriere, BC for livestock, vegetables, bees and more! The property comes equipped with a chicken coop with fenced runs, two animal shelters, two sheds that hold feed, fencing and farming supplies, an open front two-bay tractor shed and a fully stocked shop with a large inventory of carpentry and mechanical tools. There is also large equipment on-site such as a tractor and a couple of quads. All of the infrastructure and supplies would be available to the prospective farmer. For housing, a small cabin could potentially be constructed on the property, and the landholder also has a travel trailer that may be available. This is an excellent, flexible opportunity open to multiple farming types!⁠

EVENT RECAP: On August 25, twenty-seven people came out to Winnow Seed Co. to spend the morning learning about organic seed production. Owner Julie Fletcher gave us a tour of her seed farm, where she grows over 80 varieties of open-pollinated vegetables, herbs, and native plants.At this busy time of the year, we’re incredibly grateful to Julie for sharing her wealth of knowledge and passion for seed saving with us. You’re invited to a farm tour and potluck at Bar

You’re invited to a farm tour and potluck at Bar VI Ranch near Langruth, Manitoba!⁠
⁠
Bar VI Ranch is a host farm in the Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program that runs a holistically managed grass-fed cow/calf operation with a focus on soil health. Operated by Kris and Clorissa Egilson, they are the fourth generation to manage this 1600-acre ranch and bring a passion for regenerative agriculture and direct marketing quality products to their community. After going through the Holistic Management Canada Accelerator Program, they became the only farm in Canada with Land to Market Certification.⁠
⁠
At this farm tour, they will talk about the Land to Market Certification, the Holistic Management practices they implement at the farm, and the Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) program they are participating in. Kris will also discuss the Canadian Meat Board he founded to help solve the gap in the marketing and distribution of local, grass-fed beef directly to consumers by farmers. ⁠
