Maintaining Mental Wellness on the Farm – 2 min

Farmers work hard and the conversation around farmer stress and burnout is not a new one. Young Agrarians hears about these challenges from farmers all the time – there is a huge burden on farmers to be superheroes! We know how much loving care farm owners and farm workers put into your crops and animals.

Host Farm Mentors and the Program Coordinators play a big role in supporting mental wellness among program participants. Coordinators are not mental health workers but have been trained in Mental Health First Aid and can be there to help participants find support if it is needed. As a Host Farm, if you need help – reach out to your coordinator.

We have compiled a list of Tools for Mental Wellness and Support for farmers in each province. If apprentices are also students, mental health support may be available through their school which may be beneficial beyond their placement.
