ABOUT THE LAND

This 36×80 heated greenhouse is fully set up and ready to go with an aquaponic growing system. Previously home to Raincoast Aquaponics, the system has been successfully producing food since 2012 and up until this fall, averaging 30,000 units of produce and 1200 pounds of rainbow trout per year.

The system still has propane tank and heat pump set up, with grow lights for winter growing, as well as a walk in cooler and germination cabinet with lights. The greenhouse has 200 amp service and is on a separate meter from the house for easy tracking of hydro usage.

There is an additional approximately half acre of usable space, including a small orchard and space for a garden outside the greenhouse. There is additional space currently grown-over with blackberries, which the owner can assist in clearing if more outdoor growing space is needed. The greenhouse has its own driveway access.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The founders of Raincoast Aquaponics wrote a book about their system and setup, which would be available to the leasing farmer as a resource and guide. The system was designed for cold-water aquaponics, and raising trout, as opposed to the more commonly found, energy intensive warm-water tilapia systems.

There is no housing on the land, but there may be potential for a farmer to bring their own housing to the site if needed. Lease term is negotiable, but there is potential for this to be a long term arrangement for the right fit.
