ABOUT THE LAND
We have lived on our 5 acre property on Quamichan Lake for twenty years and have grazed sheep for the past 7 years and have a small orchard. Approximately 1-2.5 flat acres with full exposure can be made available to a farmer this market garden/cafe/cidery venture. The local soils are a heavier soil with clay underlay. Municipal power and water is available as well as a well for more serious irrigation. Property is deer fenced and a John Deere 2320 with various implements is available.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Cornish Pasties, Fresh Market Vegetables, Hot-house, Cidery?
Have you thought about running your own purpose-built market garden/cafe/greenhousing or Cidery/Meadery type farming business? Looking for an experienced & entrepreneurial person with a solid business plan to help create an indoor/outdoor purpose-built space for the public to access and enjoy throughout the year. This property has excellent access to the communities in the North Cowichan and Maple Bay road areas. We are open to creative ideas and marketable farming solutions.
We are ideally looking for a long-term lease arrangement but would look at limited partnerships as well under the right circumstances. We are looking for someone with a similar community-minded vision and interested in value added farm products and in managing an on-site food business. We are patient and will wait for the right fit. We are also willing to explore possibilities (though they are difficult for land in the ALR) for on-site housing.
