ABOUT THE LAND
This 0.5 acre of available field space is currently in pasture, and is mostly flat with full exposure. A seasonal creek runs beside it, with sheep grazing in the adjacent field. The field has been used for grazing primarily in recent years, and has been hayed a few times in the last 16 years since the owners have had the property. Invasive species have been managed by cutting or hand weeding. There is fencing on three sides, but fencing would need to be enhanced to keep sheep and deer out of cultivated areas. A new water line would have to be brought to the leased area, water access is municipal.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The owners are open to cultivation of any crops, and do not want any more livestock on the land. It is important that any potential farmer work with the landowner to maintain control of invasive species in the field area, and to use organic practices and prioritize biodiversity and wildlife preservation where possible. The owners are open to starting with a lease term of a few years and extending if all is going well.
