There are more available land listings available than what is listed here! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at land@youngagrarians.org to access our full land inventory in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

Situated in the “Banana Belt” of the Cariboo, this small farming outfit is located on the beautiful east bank of the Fraser River in the Soda Creek-Macallister area in Central BC.

Currently the land is fallow, but from 2012-2017, this family farm sustained a diverse agricultural ecosystem, including over an acre of market garden producing melons, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, squash and more. A 24*48′ greenhouse on site offers the benefits of an extended growing season and there is an abundance of edible native plants in the natural areas surrounding the fields.

The farm system has been home to an array of livestock, including pigs, goats, alpacas, llamas, horses, turkeys, chickens, and ducks. Barns, water systems, mobile coops, outbuildings and plenty of infrastructure is already on site and ready to support farming activities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The landowners would like to have someone on the land long term and would love to see the land back in production, in a capacity that fits for the new residents. There is a beautiful home on site available for rent. The primary source of heat for the home is a woodburning furnace in the basement, so those familiar with gathering, drying and storing firewood would be ideal (if you want to keep the hydro bill down)!
