This almost 5 acre property is a mix of field space, including a 1/2 acre pasture, and forest and is looking for a farmer to put it to more productive use. A barn is currently being only partially used by the landholders for keeping chickens, and is otherwise available for a leasing farmer to keep livestock.

The barn is plumbed with well water, and is divided into several separate areas which could be used for different animals. An additional 4 room building (currently used for storage) is also available for use, and has been used for raising chickens in the past. The land is perimeter fenced for livestock, but needs repair on some places.

There is also a shallow pond on the property with a pump and line leading to an existing approximately 60×20 deer fenced garden with well maintained beds which is available for a leasing farmer’s use, as well as an approximately 20×20 wood-framed poly greenhouse. An abundant manure source across the street is available for application on the garden if wanted! There is also potential for collaboration with farming neighbours for distribution of goods/farm stand sharing if wanted.

This opportunity is available for a trial lease term and then for up to 8 years, potentially more. Unfortunately no housing is available on site for a leasing farmer at this point. The landholders do not have an intention of making much revenue from leasing their land, but would love to learn about farming from the leasing farmer’s operation when possible.

This land opportunity is available through the B.C. Land Matching Program. Reach out to the Vancouver Island Land Matcher at to start a conversation and learn about next steps.
