LAND OPPORTUNITY: Acreage Open to Ideas – Black Creek, BC

Posted by Azja Jones Martin on March 10, 2020

There are more available land listings available than what is listed here! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at land@youngagrarians.org to access our full land inventory in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

Our pastoral, peaceful small farm has acreage available for market gardening, forage or grain production. We have enjoyed the past decade on this property learning about food production (vegetable and fruit, beef, laying hens, meat birds, animal feed) and land management techniques including permaculture, soil building and crop/pasture rotation. Being an older couple with lots on the go, we feel we are limited in fully realizing the potential of this property for greater food production.

We have a 1/2 acre triangular parcel of land with access to water and electricity running from adjacent garage. Part of garage can be made available for storage. Presently, the parcel has a hoop house on it, crabapple tree and was used as an organic CSA market garden 12 years ago though is now overgrown. Fencing requires reinforcement.

We also have about 5 acres of high ground that has been used for grazing and needs to be regenerated to support crops or foraging. There is access off the main road but there is not water, power or storage available. Fencing also requires reinforcement.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We would like to offer a lease or license to ecologically minded folks who are committed to sustainable agriculture, energy and water conservation and growing without artificial chemicals for at least a 3 year period. Leasers would have their own tools and machinery though we are open to some sharing. Lease of land can be monetary or in exchange for product.
