ABOUT THE LAND
This 6 acre blueberry orchard is planted on a peat bog, so is self-irrigating. The bushes are very large and well established, and require pruning each winter (usually done starting in January). The orchard fully deer fenced and is located in a quiet area surrounded by forest, up a road from the landholders home.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The landowners have been running this operation for many years and have an established, loyal customer base. A ride-on mower and trailer is available for the leasing farmer’s use. For vehicle access to the orchard, a 4×4 is best as the road is steep in parts. The orchard is generally sprayed 1-2 times per year for mummy berry, which ideally would be kept up by the leasing farmer.
The orchard is for lease for a share of the harvest revenue. Due to the scale of the orchard harvest help would need to be arranged by the leasee and U-pick has been successful in the past. No refrigeration is available on site for harvested berries, so the leasing farmer can sell on site directly to customers or can take off site to sell/process/freeze.
