This 34 acre property is scenically surrounded by mountains and is minutes away from Slocan Lake. The farmland on the property includes 4 acres of level fields that are currently managed by light grazing and mowing. This property has all the beauty and privacy of a remote mountain location, but is less than 10 minutes from New Denver.
In addition to the available fields there is a fully fenced 90 x 90 ft garden with an outbuilding. The soil is mainly silt and has been cover cropped in recent years. The gravity fed water source has a license for agricultural use and has good water volume. Further development of the water line would be required to expand the irrigated areas.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
There is opportunity for a variety of annual or perennial crops to be grown at this location as there are three separate fields and a fenced garden area that can be put into production. The landholder is an experienced farmer with excellent knowledge of the land, and is willing to offer some mentorship to incoming farmers.
Past production includes certified organic garlic and raspberries. More recently, some cover crops have been applied to the fields with light grazing or mowing. The landholder is open to some small-scale poultry but pasture is limited so larger animals may not be suitable.
The land will be shared with the landholder, their dogs, and two horses. There is a home on the property which can be made available for the farmer to rent.
