In sunny Cawston and surrounded by orchards, this certified organic 4.75-acre property is now available for lease for a ground crop operation!
The total available growing space is about 2 acres and is split into three 0.5 to 1-acre fallow parcels. There also a few rows of fruit trees remaining on the property, including one tree each of apricots, crab apples, and Asian pears, as well as some black currants which may be harvested.

The property has been certified organic since the 80’s and would be well suited to an organic ground crop operation, ranging from heat-loving veggies, to flowers, to nursery stock. The landholder is not open to larger livestock at this time, but there is a chicken coop that may be available in the future.
The property is fitted with access to irrigation throughout the available growing spaces. There are also multiple options for infrastructure available, including a shed for storage, a fixer-upper greenhouse, larger indoor storage and packing space, and storage in a cool area.

The ideal candidate would be a farmer able to continue to organic legacy of the property and farm using organic and natural practices. There may be other activity on the property as some fruit trees will remain under the care of the landholder’s family, so the ideal candidate would be comfortable occasionally sharing the space, will communicate well, and be respectful of the shared space. The ideal candidate would live within comfortable commuting distance, as there is no housing currently available at this property.
The available farming space is fallow and there is no equipment currently available to share, so the incoming farmer would ideally have access to their own tools and equipment necessary to break ground and manage the farm.
