In addition to half an acre of farmland, this unique property is home to a gallery, bed and breakfast, and artist residencies hosted throughout the year. The landholder moved to this property in 2016 with the goal of establishing a space for artistic expression and connection to the land. They are now looking to invite experienced farmers to transform a field on the property into a thriving, diversified farm!

The available land consists of a half-acre open field with excellent sun exposure and a gentle southern slope. The field was previously used to grow mixed vegetables and raise chickens, but has been fallow for several seasons now. The field is fully livestock fenced and there is a chicken coop that could be repaired to house a small flock of laying hens. There is no agricultural water access on this property, so an incoming farmer would need to utilize a rainwater catchment system or access supplemental water.

Situated just five minutes away from downtown Ganges, the heart of the island, this site has easy access to a variety of market outlets, including weekly farmers markets, local grocery stores, and farm-to-table markets, as well as access to the Lower Mainland due to its proximity to the Long Harbor ferry terminal.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for this opportunity would be a farmer who has experience developing farm infrastructure and is comfortable working autonomously to realize their vision. The landholder may be open to the right candidate living on-site, but does not have any housing on the property. As such, an incoming farmer would need to bring their own tiny house or mobile home to facilitate on-site living.
