Join us for a workshop on the nuts and bolts of land linking. We’ll network, learn about land leasing and the B.C. Land Matching Program, and hear from our expert panel. You just might find a farmer who can turn your vacant field into a productive farm, or a landowner who has the ideal piece of land for you!

Meet the Panel!
Leanne Goddard ~ Chartered Professional Accountant, Cranbrook
Leanne Goddard was born and raised in Fernie, B.C., and has been working in the accounting field since 1999, giving her two decades of experience in her field. Leanne has several farm clients that she advises and has a self-proclaimed soft spot for people who work in agriculture. Her grandfather was a cattle rancher and she saw first hand that it is a lifestyle and it is a hard life. She understands that people don’t do it to become rich – as we know, many farmers sustain losses. It is very difficult if you don’t have support from family, assets handed down or a program such a the Land Matching program to help get you started! Rachael Roussin ~ Kootenay & Boundary Farm Advisors, Rossland
Rachael Roussin is the Program Coordinator for KBFA. She has a Masters’ degree in Land and Water Systems from the faculty of Land and Food at UBC and brings over nine years’ experience with program coordination. Her technical background includes soil science, soil capability for agriculture, watershed management and climate change impacts and opportunities for agriculture. Rachael is an Environmental Farm Plan Advisor for BC, is an educator on soil health and agricultural land, has operated a market garden, managed her local farmers’ market for over four years, and sits on several food and agriculture boards and committees. Mira Grbich ~ Glade Organics, Glade
Mira Grbich is a certified organic farmer and operates Glade Organics, a small-scale veggie farm situated in the West Kootenay Valley. Mira is from Pass Creek and is a first-generation farmer. By farming, she hopes to build an organic sense of community and bring a local and organic option closer to people’s homes. Mira and her partner Ross farm a leased parcel of fertile land right between Nelson and Castlegar and grow a wide assortment of fresh certified organic vegetables, available seasonally at the Nelson Wednesday downtown farmers’ market. They have experience in CSAs and currently have farm-gate sales and sell wholesale to several shops in the area including the Kootenay Co-op and Save-On.
