May 27: Cawston, BC – Farmersdotter Organics Farm Tour & Potluck

Posted by Emily Jubenvill on May 03, 2018

From garlic cultivation to bread, touring Farmersdotter Organics in Cawston, BC, is a chance to learn about crop rotations, soil health, and more!

ABOUT FARMERSDOTTER ORGANICS

Farmersdotter Organics is a certified organic farm in Cawston, BC specializing in growing garlic and making naturally leavened bread. This farm tour will focus on garlic production, and we’ll also get a chance to check out their wood fired bread oven. The farm has been growing garlic for 7 years, and has developed a four year crop rotation cycle to keep their soil in peak condition.

This farm tour will be a great opportunity to get into the nitty gritty of crop rotations including types of cover crops, integrating cover crops back into soil, improving soil health for crops, and why Yvonne and Morris are adamant you’ll get the best results with a four year cycle (not three or two). Whether growing garlic is new to you or you have some experience, this tour will be a great opportunity to learn something new!
