From Field to (Book)Shelf

Do you enjoy reading? Are you hungry for new farming-related material to dive into this coming winter? Do you want to share and discuss good books with a group of fellow farmers and readers?

The growing season is almost over in the Peace Country, and the time to resume our winter perch next to the fireplace with a cup of tea and a good book is nearly upon us.

We’re hoping you will join us at our figurative fireplace by becoming a member of Young Agrarians’ FIRST Farmers Book Club.

It can be tricky to find the right folks to discuss farming practices, ideas, and research with. This book club will provide a way to share your book discoveries, explore farming topics of interest to the group, and ultimately, better our farming practices – together! New research states that farmer book club meetings are best held over potlucks.

Meet your farming neighbors, share delicious meals, expand your MUST READ list of books, enjoy great conversation, and become better farmers. Our first meeting will be held at the Peterson’s Farm near Beaverlodge, AB. Their straw-bale, off-grid home has a large dining table, perfect for hosting brunch for a food-and-book-loving crowd. (They have a real fireplace, too – not a figurative one – that we can crowd around!). The brunch bell rings at 11.
