ABOUT Lakeland Farms Inc.

Lakeland Farms Inc. is a multigenerational family farm in the Salmon River Valley just outside of beautiful Salmon Arm on Shuswap Lake. We are a 325 acre certified organic grain and forage base with a 4,500 bird organic layer barn (2018) and an on-farm commercial organic feed mill (2021) supplying poultry, ruminants, swine, bulk, and retail feeds in the interior and Kootenay regions. We also have a small beef herd that we hope to integrate with our cash crop production in the next several years.

Our farm management has a holistic focus with a wide crop rotation, a focus on soil health and a high level of integration within our supply chain. Our philosophy is to:

Our farm team is made up of mostly family members but as we grow we hope to keep that farm family culture in the business! We want to support our staff through fair wages and housing but also an enjoyable atmosphere and work that they can be proud to be a part of!

DESIRED QUALITIES

We are looking for a team member who is enthusiastic about agriculture, takes satisfaction in honest, hard work, and will contribute to a team atmosphere! This position has a future in management for the right person who is willing to learn and explore opportunities. We have grown fast over the last several years and would like to begin handing off responsibilities. They should be organized, investigative, thoughtful, and open minded. They should have a natural drive for improvement.

JOB TASKS

This position will be highly variable to start and will form to fit the strengths of the individual. It will include farm equipment operation (loader work, seeding, combine operation, sprayer etc.), grain handling, feed milling, livestock husbandry, construction, fabrication, equipment installation, barn cleaning etc.

JOB DETAILS

Term: Start immediately, long term duration

Hours per week: 40-60

Wage: $20-$28 to start depending on experience, eventual move to salary.

Housing will be available Oct 1, 2023
