ABOUT Forrest Farm Sheep and Goat Cheese Creamery
We are a diverse small farm that has recently opened as a Sheep and Goat micro dairy, specializing in Small batch Sheep and Goat Cheese.
We have been building to this point for the last 8 years, and were fully certified last year as a Dairy Processing Plant. This year we are looking for someone to assist with daily milking of our 12 Goats and 24 Sheep, feeding, pasturing, hoof trimming, and working in our CSA vegetable market garden. We are looking for someone who is dedicated, reliable, and interested in a career in Sheep and Goat farming or micro dairy production.
We are an 8 acre, first generation mixed farm and Sheep & Goat micro dairy. We are currently the only licenced farmstead sheep dairy in the province, and we are one of only 3 recently certified Cheese micro dairies in the province. We are striving to be plastic free in all our products, and rapidly growing into an established cheese creamery. Animal welfare is the most important part of our farm, and we are trying to make small farming a viable option again. With local distribution, short transport distances, plastic free products, and sustainable practices it is important that small farms like ours are a strong part of the future of agriculture.

JOB TASKS
Feed chickens, collect eggs, milk goats and sheep, clean and sanitize milking equipment, put animals out to pasture, work in market garden (weeding, harvesting, pruning)
JOB DETAILS
Term: April 1st to Nov 1st
Hours per week: Part time 20 hours per week, Thursday to Monday 4 hours per day in the mornings, 8am to 12pm.
Wage: $17-18 /hr, Room and board is not provided
