ABOUT Earth Apple Organic Farm
We are a certified organic, small-scale mixed veggie (with some fruit) farm with 300 laying hens and about 6 acres of land in cultivation, farming since 2011. By taking good care of our soil, we produce quality produce which we sell direct to our community via farmers markets, CSA program and a handful of restaurant clients. We also specialize in garlic (culinary and seed) #NewMountainGarlic.
We live and farm at Glen Valley Organic Farm- a beautiful 50 acre property in the North-West part of Abbotsford with winter streams that feed into the adjacent Fraser River, cedar forest and open pasture home to many birds and local wildlife. We acknowledge the traditional ancestral unceded shared territory of the Sumas First Nation and Mastqui First Nation. These two First Nations are part of the Stό:lō Nation. The Stό:lō people have lived in the Fraser Valley for 10,000 years. It is for this reason that we acknowledge the traditional territory in which we reside and grow food.

We farm hard during the day so that we may have time to play in our time off and during the winter. Using crop rotation, integrating our laying hens in field rotations, soil testing and farming using certified organic standards we take good care of the land we work and live on and ensure high quality produce that we sell direct to our local communities via farmers markets, CSA Harvest Box program and a handful of amazing local restaurants.
DESIRED QUALITIES
We are looking for someone who is hard-working, ideally has farm and/or outdoor field experience, has a fun and positive personality, cares about the details and ensuring quality work and product.
High endurance- we work through all weather conditions! From sideways rain, hot and cold, and even flooding and wildfires. We prepare ourselves best we can for the outdoor conditions and get the job done!
JOB TASKS
Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Seeding
- Bed prep
- Field clean-up
- Mulch laying
- Transplanting
- Weeding (weed whacking, hand-weeding, hoeing, flame-weeding etc)
- Harvesting- lots of it!
- Heavy lifting and repetitive work
- Cleaning, sorting, inventorying produce and eggs
- Cleaning tools, barns, harvest bins, storage bins, wash station and work spaces etc
- Loading and unloading fridge, trucks and possible work at the farmers market
- Keeping an upbeat attitude, working with a dynamic crew and flexibility
JOB DETAILS
Term: March/April to end-October 2021
Hours per week: We are hiring for a few different positions (check out our employment page on our website to see them all), but for field crew we are looking for full-time workers. We would consider part-time as well, but our accommodations are reserved for those that are able to commit full-time.
Wage: Hourly wage is $15.20 or more commensurate with experience.
