August 22, 2026: Dapp, AB – Farm Tour and Potluck at Triple Lyoness Farm

You are invited to a farm tour, potluck and livestock handling workshop at Triple Lyoness Farm in Dapp, Alberta! Join us to see how the Carlyon family weaves together regenerative farming practices into every aspect of their multi-generational farm.

Rod, Janet, and their three daughters, Andria, Jessica, and Briana, steward a diverse farm that produces pasture-raised beef, chicken, turkey, pork and eggs for both their family and customers. By implementing environmental practices such as a riparian protection area, they maintain a thriving ecosystem while demonstrating how regenerative agriculture can support both healthy landscapes and sustainable food production.

This farm event is for you if you are:

• curious about farming (all are welcome!)
• wanting to learn more about how water ecosystems can be protected on a working farm
• interested in seeing a multi-species livestock regenerative farm

WHEN: August 22, 2026 |  10am – 3pm

WHERE: Treaty 8 Territory | Triple Lyoness Farm | 27232 Township Rd 622, Dapp, AB

DIRECTIONS/PARKING: From the intersection of Hwy 44 North and Secondary Highway 661 West, travel 8 km west on Hwy 661, passing through the community of Dapp, to Range Road 273. Turn right (north) onto Range Road 273 and continue for 1.6 km. Turn right (east) into the yard at the welcome sign, then follow the directional signs to the parking area.

The tour will start at the main farm site. We will go on a guided walking tour of the farm to see what regenerative practices they incorporate in day-to-day operations as well as a year-to-year outlook. Weather, economic trends, and labour availability are big factors in their decision making. The tour will cover these topics while also allowing time for questions.

After the farm tour, Briana and the farm’s Apprentices will demonstrate low stress cattle handling techniques and weighing utilizing a cattle demo group in their corral system. Their cattle handling system incorporates Temple Grandin’s corral design, large flags and minimal environmental stressors. The farm’s cattle all have electronic identification devices as well as visual identification tags as part of their cattle management which allows them to make timely and well informed decisions.

For lunch, we will have a potluck picnic in their yard. If you would like to participate, bring a dish to share and enjoy a meal together in the fresh country air!

In the afternoon, we will drive about 15 km to the farm’s Thirty Year Steer Pasture which features a riparian area protection project, electric fencing utilization, solar water systems and intensive grazing rotation with 200 head of steers. Rod and Briana will share how farms can steward and be a part of the ecosystems around them. You’ll learn about ways to protect areas around water bodies and how to determine the health of the ecosystems existing around and within them.

WHAT TO BRING:

Dress for the weather and bring footwear you won’t mind getting dirty – you’ll likely come across mud and/or manure. Bring a water bottle!

You are invited to bring a food item to contribute to the potluck. Please bring fully prepared dishes only. If you can, please include a little card with ingredients, for folks with food sensitivities. There will be a small refrigerator for food items on-site, but space will be limited, so feel free to bring your own cooler if needed.

To enjoy the meal, please bring your own plate, cutlery and cup, and plan on packing your items back home to clean. Bring along a chair or blanket to sit on, a water bottle, and any sunscreen and insect repellent you might need. Make sure to wear weather and farm-suitable clothing and footwear – the event will proceed rain or shine (though there will be a sheltered area for the potluck and in case of rain). For restroom facilities, there will be an outhouse as well as a washroom inside the farmhouse at the main site.

About the Farm

Triple Lyoness Farm is family run and operated by the three Carlyon daughters; Andria, Jessica, Briana, and their parents; Rod and Janet Carlyon. They created the name Triple Lyoness to represent the three Carlyon daughters. Their family is proud to produce pasture raised beef, chicken and turkey and free range pork and eggs.

Together, they maintain a small rural farming business that is not specialized in one area of agriculture. Instead, they choose to be diverse and have many different means of production. As the main operators, Rod and Janet are the core to a successful enterprise providing constant care to the animals, record keeping, and labour. The three daughters have contributed in many ways on the farm throughout their life and continue to immerse themselves in the agriculture industry while helping with large tasks on the farm and marketing meat products.
