Butternut Buddha May 25 Burnaby

Join us at Butternut Buddha Farm in Burnaby, BC for a hoop house raising party, farm tour, and potluck social!

We will be sharing food, sharing ideas, pulling some weeds, and erecting two small hoop houses with Grey Orion. Grey is an accomplished builder of hoop houses with a great teaching style and kind demeanour. You will get your hands dirty, move your body, and spend the afternoon in the fresh air! Butternut Buddha is shared with a beekeeper and a flower farmer so we can have a peek at their operations as well.

Children are welcome but please leave furry friends at home. This event is free and open to everyone!

Date: Saturday May 25, 2019

Schedule: 2-4pm Hoop House Raising, 4-5pm Farm Tour and Introduction Circle (facilitated by Sara Dent), 5-6:30pm Potluck Social (times are approximate)

Location: 4992 Byrne Road, Burnaby, BC

Butternut Buddha

joni butternut buddhaJoni is a relatively new farmer just learning the ropes of the small scale organic food business. She’s growing mixed vegetables for a 35 person CSA and a market in Kitsilano. Her aim is to make nutritious fresh food available to the neighbourhood, and to put her shoulder to the wheel of the local food movement. Joni has been a massage therapist all her working life and believes strongly in the value of food as medicine, and in growing food as a livelihood that works with the natural world. She loves getting behind an organic local food movement that prevents further degradation of our sweet planet.
