Hello! My name is Shaunna, and I am in search of a unique opportunity while I’m living in Victoria for school during the fall and winter of 2019/2020. I’ve been living on Salt Spring Island for most of the last 8 years and I’ve grown accustomed to living a certain kind of way that I desperately don’t want to let go of when I move to Victoria. While on Salt Spring I was fortunate to live close to nature, amongst like-minded community members on large pieces of land. We were able to grow our own food and work together to … Continue reading WORK TRADE WANTED: STUDENT SEARCHING FOR FARM LIVE/WORK EXCHANGE – VICTORIA, BC

ABOUT THE LAND We are Jan and Nelson Meadows. We have been stewarding this 40-acre property 13 kms outside of Bamfield for the past 13 years. We have built a productive organic garden, multiple alternative energy sources, buildings and a self-sufficient way of life – we love eating fresh, organic food from the gardens nearly year-round, hosting WWOOFERs from all over the world, and sharing the knowledge we have gained in living this lifestyle. The property was clear cut about 30 years ago. The forest is now growing back with natural regeneration that includes all the native plant species. Our hope is to help nurture … Continue reading LAND OPPORTUNITY: OFF-GRID WEST COAST HOMESTEAD WITH CO-OWNERSHIP POTENTIAL – BAMFIELD, BC

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The popular restaurant at Unsworth Vineyard and Winery is looking for a new farmer to lease its kitchen garden! The owners are keen to have a farmer to make use of the space available, and supply the popular restaurant with as much produce grown on-site as possible. The chef would particularly love a fresh supply of herbs and flowers, and will buy anything the farmer can grow there!  The restaurant would be the farmer’s first customer, and if there is any additional produce from the garden beyond what the restaurant needs, the farmer is welcome to sell that elsewhere. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY A small farm in Saanich is looking for someone to help out with 10 hours of work per week in exchange for living in a very neat and clean 22′ 5th wheel trailer and a share of produce. The trailer is fully furnished and ideally you would not have many belongings and some farm experience. The farm is close to bus routes, a 10 minute walk to Elk Lake and a 50 minute bike ride from Victoria. In the interest of mutual compatibility, there would be a one week trial period.
