Are you a landholder looking for farmers? Are you a new farmer looking for land?
Land access is a major barrier to new and aspiring farmers. With increasing land prices, ownership is often not an option. At the same time, many landholders don’t have family members who want to take on the farm or have land that is not currently in production.
There is a growing opportunity for new farmers, land managers and food growers, who come from a wide variety of backgrounds, to explore creative land sharing arrangements with those offering land.
This online workshop will bring together landholders and new farmers in Alberta to explore the land-linking process.
WHEN: Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM (MT)
WHERE: Online on Treaty 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10 territory and Métis land in what is today known as Alberta. Join us from the comfort of your couch, office, tractor, compost heap – wherever you find yourself able to tune in!

COST: Free to everyone and donations are welcome!

You can download the Alberta Land Access Guide, which details land sharing models, lease templates and case studies. It’s a great resource on land sharing, and may also help you understand the perspective of the farmer(s) looking to lease land or the landholder making land available.
You can also check out the B.C. Transition Toolkit for Non-Family Farm Transfer. This is a resource kit for anyone curious about – or neck-deep in – alternative ways to transition land and farms from one generation to the next.
