Earthwise society has three summer student positions available for 2016.

Summer Student – Farm Coordinator

Reporting to the Organic Grower/Educator in South Delta, the Farm Coordinator will maintain the Earthwise Farm in Agassiz as a destination learning resource for organic farming and food security.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate field preparation, field maintenance, crop development, crop harvest, and post harvest handling
  • Supervise and train volunteers
  • Assist with educational programs, tours, special events and fund-raising activities
  • Keep farm and storage areas organized and tidy
  • Assist operation of CSA program and farm store
  • Represent Earthwise at Farmers Markets and other community events

Qualifications:

  • The successful applicant must be a full-time student who will be returning to college or university in the fall of 2016
  • Be self-motivated, flexible, willing to take initiative, work well independently and in a team environment
  • Be physically fit and enjoy working outside in all kinds of weather
  • Proven ability to work effectively with volunteers and/or co-workers
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident (Service Canada requirement)

Note:  This is a full-time position of 35-hours per week for 14 weeks. Wage is $12.50/Hour. Weekend work will be required
