HERB INTERNSHIPS: BLACK CREEK, BC – Ravensong Seeds & Herbals

Join us for an internship this season at Ravensong Medicine Garden, located in the beautiful Comox Valley, Vancouver Island BC. After over a decade of growing our seeds and herbs on leased land on the Saanich Peninsula, we have relocated up Island to Black Creek where we are putting roots down on our very own property. Over the course of the next growing season we will be visioning, designing, and beginning to create the new medicine garden on two acres.

Learn all about herb growing, medicine making, and seed-saving as you help us build Ravensong Medicine Garden. The Seasonal Internships offer the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the various aspects of a thriving herb farm. Interns work and learn along side two experienced herbalists and herb-growers, Ravensong founder Jessy Delleman (13+ experience) and assistant manager Harmony Pillon (6+ years experience).

The internships are unpaid work-trade positions, with a 1 day commitment biweekly for a total of 7 weeks. As an intern you become an integral part of our farm team for that period of time and are relied upon to be punctual, and attend each day of your commitment. We value the time and effort of our interns, and offer a truly mutually beneficial work & learning exchange. Opportunities to gain a wide variety of experiences will be given, as well as some mini-lessons regarding aspects of herbalism and herb farming such as materia medica for different plants in the garden.

In exchange for hands-on experience and opportunties to learn directly from Jessy and Harmony, interns are expected to work hard and efficiently. You must be willing to do a variety of tasks, and must work well in a group environment. Enthusiasm about exploring the world of herb growing and herbal medicine is essential. The internship tasks and activities vary per season, and may include plant propagation, gardening and farm labour, harvesting and processing herbs, seed-saving, seed cleaning and packaging, medicine bottling and labeling, and other activities.
