Land Share Opportunity in Alberta

Posted by Moss Dance on March 23, 2016 4 Comments

We have land (190 acres/76 ha) in west central Alberta that is a mix of forest and cleared grass land. Land elevation is 945 metres. The soil type is grey wooded, although we are in the lower foothills and the geology is considered to be glacial till. There are a few rocks in the soil. We are located 180 km west of Edmonton and about 30 km north of Highway 16. The nearest community is Edson, Alberta, 40 km to the southwest.

We are a retired couple who have lived here for 40 years and wish to continue to live here. However our energy levels are decreasing and we would like more time to travel. There is a large, established vegetable garden with apple trees and a variety of fruit bushes, all fenced. It is well proven to be very productive. The well has good quality water and flow. We have long term knowledge of what grows here, what insect pests thrive and how to deal with them, soil enhancement techniques, local marketing potential, etc. and we would be pleased to share this knowledge. There have been no herbicides or pesticides used on the land in the past 40 years. We would like to see the work we have put into this property be continued and even expanded.

So we are looking for an individual or a couple who in turn are looking for land to carry out small-scale market farming in a very rural setting. There is potential for another dwelling on the property and we would consider a long term lease based on mutual understanding and benefit. A trial year with minimal expense for both parties would be considered.

  1. Hello,

I see that your feature property for land share is the one we posted in 2016.

It states that we have filled this opportunity; but we haven’t.

It is now 2020 and are still interested in pursuing a land share. Not much has changed in the description of our land. Is your organization still interested in posting this opportunity?

    1. Hi Janet,

Thanks so much for your message. Yes we’d love to (re)post your opportunity, perhaps with a bit more information. I’ll pass on your message to Alex from our Alberta team, and she will reach out via email.

      Cheers,
      Michi

    1. Hi Suzette!

Apologies in the delay in responding. We have reached out to this opportunity to see if it is still available and will be in touch if it is!
