Sunshine Herb Farms
Sunshine Herb Farms is a terraced mountain farm situated with stunning views of Kootenay River. Stephen the owner of the property has developed a fruitful blueberry business. The farm has a diverse array of fruit trees, pinot gris grape vines, and lavender. The farm is off grid and relies on solar power for electricity with a back up diesel generator. Stephen currently has a land listing on the U-MAP and is keen to participate in the Land Matching Program as he is looking for the right person or people to use his current land and infrastructure to expand the onsite farming activities.
Young Agrarians Programs
Young Agrarians has a few spots available in our Business Mentorship Network, which aims to provide new farmers with an opportunity to build their business knowledge and use it to grow their farm operations to achieve long-term viability. Ultimately we hope to see farmers produce an increase in: crop yields, revenues, and where possible, area of land in production. Brittny Anderson, Columbia Basin Coordinator, will discuss opportunities for seasoned farmers to participate as mentors and new farmers as mentees.
Looking for land to farm? Sunshine Herb is interested in participating in the Young Agrarians Land Matching program and has land available for a farm project. The Columbia Basin Land Matcher, Hailey Troock, will be joining us to share more about the program.
