Please bring a dish to share, something liquid and your good winter cheer. Think local, hot, cozy, warm, steamy- yummy! Please also bring dishes to eat with, cutlery and serving utensils.

Open to farmers, gardeners, foodies and friends.

Co-hosted by Heather Ramsay of Uminami Farm in Metchosin, Robin Tunnicliffe of Saanich Organics and Sara Dent, Young Agrarians Coordinator.

Feeding each other is a wonderful way of pulling our community together to enjoy the fruits of our labour and connect. We’ll have lots of time to eat, socialize and Heather and Sara are going to share some short presentations on their recent food and farming adventures.

Heather was checking out organic farms in China: “This spring I visited China, where there is a growing interest in organic food. I’ll share photos of the organic and conventional agriculture scene near Beijing, and talk about the prospects for the growth of organic agriculture in China. Organic agriculture there faces challenges and opportunities that are strikingly similar and drastically different from own own.”

Sara was fortunate to attend Terra Madre in Italy this October – Slow Food International’s every two year gathering of farmers and food producers from around the world. She will share photos and talk about some of the inspiring things happening in the international food movement.

It’ll be great to be at Haliburton Community Organic Farm: “We are an organic farm providing healthy food, educational programs and community-building opportunities since 2001. The farm stand is open every Wednesday to Friday 11-5 and Saturday 11-4pm. We are also at Moss St. Market!” For more information please visit: http://haliburtonfarm.org/wp/
