Sept 1: Pouce Coupe, BC: Wildwood Farm Tour

Posted by Dana Penrice on August 09, 2018

Wildwood Farm is off-grid, using a small solar array to give the farm modest, but adequate supply of power. Included in the tour:

  • A grain milling demonstration using the horse team
  • Perennial and annual fruit and vegetable gardens, greenhouse, and root cellar
  • Gravity fed water systems
  • Visiting the pastures and fields, the forest, creek, and waterfall.

About the Farm

Young-Agrarians-Wildwood-Farm-Tour-4

In 1978, Tim and Linda drove out west and discovered the Peace River Country. They were in their early 20s and wished to build a farm. A bit by chance they found a parcel of crown land with a beautiful creek and waterfall, but with no buildings, fences, dugouts or any of the other necessary things to start a farm. With great dreams, lots of energy, and very little money, they began turning this piece of land into Wildwood Farm.

Wildwood Farm has seen many evolutions, including raising a small herd of cattle and milking cows, raising hogs, growing a 2 acre market garden, keeping bees, and growing grains and hay. The fruits of the farm also include apples and berries of many kinds.

Tim and Linda are now considering the succession of Wildwood Farm, and want to see it passed into the care of people who will continue to produce nutritious food and products for their families and community, and who can grow to love and understand the farm as much as they do.
