Nova Scotia June 21: FAWN Apprentice Meetup – Abundant Acres Farm

Posted by Bernard Soubry on June 07, 2015

The Farm Apprentices and Worker’s Network (FAWN) invites all interested and interesting parties to its second monthly meetup on June 21 at Abundant Acres Farm!

What: Hoophouse Hoedown, Potluck, and Farm Tour (Facebook event!)

When:  June 21, 2015 (Sunday), 11:00-15:00

Where: Abundant Acres Farm, 182 Red Bank Road, Centre Burlington, Nova Scotia (Map)

What you should bring: Food (for the potluck), work clothes (for the workshop), some strong arms (for high-fiving), and some good old-fashioned farmin’ enthusiasm!

Come together with farming apprentices, workers, and enthusiasts for a grand day of socializing and good work! Master farmers David and Jen Greenberg, of Abundant Acres Farm, will host us and give us the run-down on the basics of hoophouse creation–from pipe bending to plastic techniques to temperature regulation.  We’ll give them a hand bending hoops for future hoophouses, have time to chat, share incredible food, and discover all six (abundant) acres of the farm!

The workshop will take place rain, shine, or surprise hail, so come prepared, and bring food to share! (We do realize that Full Circle Festival‘s activities take place on the same day–but don’t worry; there will be time for both, and the Avon River is mere minutes away. You won’t have to miss a thing.)

Did you miss the first FAWN meetup? Don’t worry about it! We welcome anyone who wants to join. In case you want to know what you might be in for, here’s what it looks like when fifteen people build a twenty-foot hügelbed in two hours:
