Steel+Pony+Farm+Logo+jpg+400+wideMike Kozlowski is a self described soil worshiper, vegetable whisperer, and yogi at heart. Mike runs Steel Pony Farm, a market garden growing veggies that provide healthy, beautiful food for the Red Deer community. Mike reaches his customers through a CSA and sells produce through local grocery stores and restaurants. Recently, he has been working on innovative new approaches to improve the CSA model. Mike works to build a really great team at Steel Pony Farms including MacKenzie, one of our YA Apprentices! Together they grow A LOT of different veggies. Come learn how they do it – from the field, to the wash station, to the cooler, to the customer.

logo-2Blake Hall, along with his wife Ang and kids, are the faces behind Prairie Gold Meats. Blake began building his herdsmanship skills working on farms throughout Canada and the US. Slowly, he began building his herd and has landed at Tamara Ranch south of Red Deer. Blake works to grow high quality, nutrient-dense, grass-fed beef through managed grazing and sells his product through a herdshare into Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. Prairie Gold Meats also has a large pasture egg enterprise and has experience raising pasture pigs. Lately, Blake has been working on his disc golf game and using it as a tool to manage grass inventory over the ranch. This summer, Prairie Gold Meats is also home to Josh, another YA apprentice.
