ABOUT AMARA FARM

First of all, check out this beautiful video by Scott Bell Visuals of Amara Farm in the early summer:

Amara farm is a certified organic vegetable and blueberry farm in the Comox Valley. The farm utilizes intensive, small-scale farming techniques to grow vegetables year-round on an acre and a half. They also grow one acre of blueberries that reached the first year of production in 2017! This farm is the hub of Merville Organics Growers’ Cooperative, a lively marketing collective comprised of five farms in the Comox Valley.

Merville Organics sells organic produce to the community through a popular CSA program, local farmers’ markets, and restaurants.

The farmers at Amara contribute a lot to regional farm knowledge development. Recently, the farm has participated in a research project  that focused on wireworm and click beetle control. Farmers at Amara have also innovated and demonstrated new ideas for water harvesting and storage, season extension and more. They share their knowledge with local farming community via the Mid Island Farmers Institute.
